A festival or event may have the most compelling vision, tremendous public and private support and a fantastic audience, but unless a sustainable, workable organisation is created, its chances of long term success are threatened. FEI has a deep knowledge and understanding of:
- Organisational and business models
- Governance
- Leadership
- Management structures
FEI’s directors have set up and managed numerous start-ups, creating organisations appropriate to the scale of the event and dealing with functions including;
- Event planning and programming
- Operations and production management
- Marketing and press
- Fundraising
- Finance, IT and administration
FEI has undertaken organisational development projects for the Three Choirs Festival, Winchester Hat Fair, Broadstairs Folk Week and Canterbury Festival including board development and training.
On occasions a town, city or region will wish to invest in the capacity of the festivals and events sector and FEI have assisted a number of such projects. In the North East of England we set up and operated the North East Festivals and Events Service using FEI’s expertise to help build capacity in the region. In Derby we have been acting as festivals development director for the Cultural Landscapes Programme to develop skills and capacity in the sector.
FEI can also offer a high level training and professional development service for festivals, events and venues. Drawing on the skills of our Associate Directors who have many year’s experience in senior positions we have assisted the British Council in training Vietnamese festival producers and Failte Ireland, the Irish tourism agency to run festival skills courses.
