Expertise: Event Development, Project Planning & Bidding Strategies

EVENT DEVELOPMENT

Developing a festival or event from concept to delivery is a complex task, requiring a great deal of creativity, tenacity and experience. Whether it’s starting small and growing over time or launching a high profile, location specific Signature Event FEI has the experience to help you get off to the best possible start.  We have helped a diverse range of clients like Visit Reykjavik developing a new Children’s Festival or Newcastle City Council developing a new Housing Expo with a large scale cultural programme. We have helped the Northern Ireland Tourist Board put together NI2012, a year-long events programme, which has been successful in bidding for substantial government funding.

BIDDING STRATEGIES

Major Events often move around the country and around the world and can attract considerable media attention and visitor numbers. Events like the Tall Ships Race, WOMAD, National or European sports Championships, UK or European Cultural Capitals, award ceremonies like the MTV Awards, BBC Sports Personality of the Year can all be bid for.  FEI understands the national and international market for these events, the costs involved and the potential value. We have advised Birmingham City Council on their bid to become UK City of Culture, Plymouth City Council on their event development and bidding strategy and One North East on the bid for the World Rally Championships.

PROJECT PLANNING

Successful and sustainable festivals and events require careful planning from an early stage. What is the projects raison d’être?  Who is the target market? What are the festivals aims and objectives?  FEI can help articulate the vision and provide an objective and informed market analysis.  We advised Tower Hamlets Council on developing Victoria Park Olympic Live Site plans as part of a commercial tender process and we undertook detailed advance planning for the Birmingham Autumn festival involving modelling, visitor marketing planning, fundraising strategy and business planning.
