Ching Lee Goh - Associate Director Singapore

Ching Lee - Consultant

Ching Lee has been a key personality behind the arts renaissance in Singapore. She was the Director of the Singapore Arts Festival for a decade from 2000 where she has infused the Festival with an innovative character noted for its inter-cultural and interdisciplinary interests. She played an instrumental role in developing Singapore Season, a programme showcasing Singapore’s arts overseas which was first launched in London in 2005 and later in China (Beijing, Shanghai) in 2007 and Edinburgh 2009. She initiated the Association of Asian Performing Arts Festivals and served as its first chairperson from 2004 to 2009.

In 2009, Ching Lee was made Officier de l’Orde des Arts et des Lettres by the French government for her contributions to the arts in Singapore and in 2005, she was bestowed The Public Administration Medal (Silver) at the 2005 National Day Awards in Singapore.

Following the critical and box-office success of her 10th edition of the Singapore Arts Festival in June 2009, Ching Lee started her own company CultureLink to work as an independent producer, curator, agent, and consultant, and to continue her passion of bridging Asia and Europe through the arts.

In more than 20 years working in the cultural sector, principally with the National Arts Council in Singapore, she has been involved in the fields of arts policy, research and facilities planning. She is particularly noted for her role in developing and transforming national and international events in the performing, visual and literary arts in Singapore, as well as in fostering international cultural relations and artistic exchanges.
